Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Zygote’

In 2017, director of modern science fiction classic District 9 (2009) launched his new film platform, Oats Studios. He’s since been quietly dropping high-concept shorts online, inviting us into the depths of his creative process. Brief snippets of concepts which might one day become feature-length productions.

One of these being the wildly ambitious, busy and gruesome Zygote, which stars none other than Dakota Fanning (War of the Worlds). If you were wondering what Blomkamp’s seemingly now-dead Alien project might have turned out like, then this one should give you a bit of an idea….only here, the Xenomorph has been swapped out for Pickle Rick gone horribly wrong.

Enjoy!

Have loved all the Blomkamp shorts that have come out of Oats Studios so far. Although I actually think that this is the weakest of them, Firebase tops my list followed by Rakka.
Have you seen all of them so far? Even the animated ones?

I’ve slowly been chipping through them over the past few days, very impressed so far! Not seen Firebase yet, will move it to the top of the list, thanks for the recommendation!
