Hair today, gone tomorrow….

The X-Men are back, and their leader Professor X is finally getting his iconic look on – James McAvoy is going bald for X-Men: Apocalypse:
Bryan Singer is back to direct his fourth film in the X-Men franchise having started the series off back in 2000, kick the starting waves of comic book movies that would follow for the next 15 years. Whilst the last instalment, Days of Future Past, took the franchise to new heights at the box office (picking up a hefty $747,862,775), that’s still a drop in the ocean in comparison to Avengers: Age of Ulton’s $1,405,035,767 haul. Though the eldest of the current iterations of comic book movie franchises, it seems that it’s not able to go toe to toe with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes at this point, and can perhaps no longer garner the same level of hype as its siblings over in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But nonetheless, it can hardly claim to be an underdog, and the franchise certainly still has much left to offer.
From the look of the film’s first trailer, it seems that we’re in for an intense rollercoaster ride at the least. And with a cast including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Oscar Isaac, what’s not to look forward to?
So can Apocalypse avoid getting swept up in the MCU/ Batman v Superman swell? Does it even need to compete against the Marvel and DC Cinematic universes? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
