Dark, funny, goofy and muddled, The X-File’s return is one of variety, but also of wild inconsistency. It’s not the triumphant return many fans had hoped for, but it certainly had moments where it recaptured that ’90s magic.

In 2009, HBO’s Flight of the Conchords came to an end after just two seasons, and the world suddenly became a darker place. Gone from our lives were the angelic voices of “the almost award-winning fourth-most-popular folk duo in New Zealand”, and gone was their manager – the greatest manager of all time – Murray Hewitt (Rhys Darby).
