Game Night Bitesize Review

“Can you charade it to me?”

***

Game Night: The film in which Jesse Plemons manages to exceed the already impressively high standards of creepiness he set with his roles in Black Mirror and Breaking Bad to deliver a brilliant, unsettlingly hilarious performance which sets the tone for the movie at large. Off-kilter, and not what you would expect. Though the rest of the supporting cast might not be as memorable (barring the always-excellent Kyle Chandler), the two leads Rachel McAdams (who hasn’t been this funny since Mean Girls) and Jason Bateman (who perhaps hasn’t been this funny outside of Arrested Development full stop) are on top form. Pacy, absurd, increasingly high stakes comedy, which a brief midway lull aside is about as good as we’ve had from the genre in quite some time.

  1. Yessss I am with you 100% here. Finding a good comedy this past few years has been hard work but this is certainly one of them.
