Official synopsis:

Fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on an epic journey—teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven—to find her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom.

Mini Review:

So it happened. I finally got round to watching Frozen, and I do believe that potentially I was the last human being alive to do so, or so it would seem. And pleasantly, it mostly lived up to its hype, for the most part reaching the high, high heights of some of its classic Disney brethren.

Some have likened Frozen to films from the “Disney Renaissance” of the late 80’s and 90’s, such as Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid, which in many respects is understandable. But I feel that it taps into proud Disney traditions that have been in place right from the offset – it’s a well told, feel good fairy tale, packed full of memorable characters. Well told, feel good fairy tales have been the cornerstone of Disney’s lot for decades now, and it’s fantastic to see that they are still able to produce them like very few others can.

Being a film steeped in Disney tradition, it can feel a little dated in comparison to perhaps more vibrant recent films from the studio like Bolt and Wreck-It Ralph. However the characters are beautifully brought to life by the cast, it’s stunningly animated, and Olaf and Sven are sure to live long in the memory as the best sidekicks Disney has created since Timon and Pumbaa.

As a fully grown man I also have to remember that it is at the very least looked upon with confused glances from by-passers when humming “Let it go” in public – it’s just so damn catchy!

In short: 

An impressive continuation of Disney’s excellent recent form.
